...for £10 million in unpaid wages, while he was accused of and charged with rape (for which he was eventually acquitted at trial). If he wasn't paid and there was no clause covering such circumstances in his contract, I'd think that City have no excuse not to stump up.

In any other job where an employee is unavailable for work due to being on remand then the employer does not have to pay wages for that period.
Not sure of the full details but I think that after a few months of being in custody Mendy was allowed out on bail but was effectively placed under house arrest, which meant that he couldn't attend training, let alone play in matches. If those conditions remained until his final acquittal, one month after his Man City contract expired, then there might not be a case to answer.

So what happened to those women who made the false allegations against Mendy, trying to get a pay day.
Apart from being left looking like lying cunts they just seem to be able to get on with their lives, no accountability for destroying someone else's.
